Reader: Introducing Dee Henderson

Books by Dee Henderson
Someone once said to me, “I don’t read Christian books, they are so boring!”
Well I challenge you to read some of the Christian books I read and make up your own mind.I enjoy forensic novels, medical mysteries, suspense, historical novels, humorous books, educational books, the list goes on; and yes these type of books are written by Christian authors.

I have discovered Dee Henderson, and after reading one of her books, I have decided to read as many of them as I can from now on. Dee writes suspense novels which deal with real life experiences of our times.

Dee has written 18 novels and has been nominated for and won several prestigious awards to date. She is the author of The O’Mally Series, as well as independent stories.

I have just read Danger in the Shadows- Sara is under FBI protection, lives a life of terror and has to dodge a man who actually OWNS her. Not one minute of her life is her own; in fact she has no life! How can one person’s behaviour destroy another’s existence? Will Sara ever experience freedom?

Well you have a read to find out what unravels: I hate it when someone reveals the contents of a book, after all that's why I'm reading it. Now find a copy and enjoy!

I am about to read the new book by Dee that I purchased..... Unspoken.

Charlotte has been kidnapped, her abductors have been killed..... but, where is Charlotte? What has Charlotte experienced? Will they find her alive?

I am about to find out. I need to get into this book today, therefore I have to find the time to do so. I’ll report on this book soon. Let’s hope it’s one I won’t want to put down!

Hats off to .... Debbie the photographer

That's Debbie with the name tag on. She's a real ray of sunshine. Debbie is a very talented lady, but this time around I will only share her photography.

Debbie is an avid photographer. She loves visiting the Kruger National Park and has an eye for memorable wild life photographs amongst other images. She manages to capture really special moments.

Scenic shots that speak for themselves.

Debbie's pets are beautifully snapped!

Gallivanter: A morning at Irene Village Market

The Irene Village Market is an art market on the shady grounds of the Smuts House Museum occurring every second Saturday, about 40 kilometres north of Johannesburg.
Held on the second and last Saturday of every month, the market offers ample guarded parking, safe kids’ entertainment, a fully-licensed tea garden, numerous food stalls and over 300 exhibits with wares ranging from art and craft to clothing, delicacies, antiques, flowers and curio. Only original art and craft are traded at the Irene Village Market. Exhibitors and their wares undergo a strict selection process. Be sure to come through and experience a rustic and enthralling market.
(Information taken from Irene Market  website)
If you enjoy visiting village markets with high quality goods on sale, then Irene Market is the place to visit.

There are many stalls set up under beautiful trees  where an amazing range of goods are sold.                                     Stall holders are friendly and helpful.

There are activities for children which are well supervised.

Camel rides are enjoyed by youngsters

Many stalls to select goods from.

There are wonderful food stalls at the entrance to the market but seating is very limited there. You can enjoy tea or a meal at the restaurant  under enormous, shady trees while listening to various artists singing or playing instruments. This group of people are being entertained by a Jazz Duet.

Be sure to plan a visit to Irene Market. As Valentines Day and Easter draw near you will find the perfect gifts within your budget as there is a huge variety to choose from. Overseas visitors enjoy visiting this market.

Many people visit the market on a regular basis to buy home made biscuits, rusks, cakes, breads, cheeses, sauces and pickles etc. as well as plants for their gardens. Be sure to get there early if you wish to purchase foodstuffs as they sell out quickly.
The market usually opens at 8:30 and closes at 14:00 , so head out that way to be there early and avoid the traffic that builds up in that area.

Poet, Speaker, God's child; Nothing changes if NOTHING changes

I have tried to download pictures plus other entries, but I am having a problem with all pictures.
Until I sort things out I need to add this post as it cannot wait.

Nothing changes if NOTHING changes

That Bible can’t be read
if you don’t know where it is
You can’t do what God requires
if you don’t know what He said.

You cannot lose that weight
if you carry on as before
You can’t change a relationship
if you don’t talk anymore.

You can’t get stronger
if your weakness is crippling you
But you can change that weakness
by what you’re going to do!

You have to make the changes
you’re the only one who can,
and if you fail and make mistakes
then get up and start again.

You cannot blame another
for failures in your life,
The choices that you make
often lead to your strife.

Jesus is there for you
He’s waiting for your call,
He wants to be your saviour
before another fall.

So call on Him,
let go of pride
and listen for His voice,
whether you rely on Him
is totally your choice!

I guess that by now most of you have formulated your New Year’s Resolutions, so, has anything changed yet? If the changes have not started yet then you will get to where you’re aiming.......
Nowhere! Sit down and formulate your plans, set targets and start moving towards those goals.

Have a wonderful 2014 and do your best to make it the one you had planned on!

Nature Lover and Hats off to Tom: A picnic in my garden

As New Year's Day comes along, why not go on a picnic for the day?

I decided to set up a picnic in my own garden which is so beautiful at the moment.

Tom is the gardener and he has set out our garden so beautifully that there is absolutely no reason to go anywhere else to relax and enjoy lunch outside.

Pack your picnic basket with your basic needs and avoid going inside at all!

Choose a spot and get down to relaxing and enjoying the day.

Sit on a blanket on the lawn or on a bench overlooking the garden.

Relax in the middle of a secluded spot, enjoying a mug of coffee and reading some magazines before enjoying the picnic lunch.

Sit under the gazebo, looking onto the pond and watching the birds eating treats on the lawn close by.

Invite some friends and serve salads from labeled bottles-once you are done you can just pop them back into the fridge and they are far easier to transport whether you are having your picnic at home or in park somewhere.

Include a home baked corn bread... the recipe appears on an earlier entry. It takes less than 20 minutes in total to make, and is worth the effort.

Everything laid out, ready to enjoy at your leisure!

Now just enjoy the last of the holidays, invite some friends around and if you don't have a beautiful garden     then go to a nearby park, the stream or a designated picnic spot!

Hats off to Christmas: Christmas gifts from my kitchen

Christmas gifts  from my kitchen

This year I decided to make Christmas gifts in my kitchen.

Basil was grown in my garden.
Celery, basil and thyme from my herb garden.

I collected as many bottles as I could, cut some Christmas fabric to put on top of some of the bottles, made my own labels out of recycled brown paper from the inside of wrapping paper rolls and used string or elastic bands to tie the labels on with.

Not only did I recycle, but at the same time I enjoyed cooking up something special.

It’s a bit late for you to make these for this Christmas, but perhaps you could make 2014 a year where you make all the gifts you give.

Happy Christmas!
